The following is a clip from "Yes, Minister" from 30 years ago about a hospital with no medical staff or patients, just administrators.

It turned out that the fictional story of a hospital with no medical staff was actually reflected in real life at the time!

  1. I think this post makes you a racist.

    :)

The video was funny; I understood virtually every word!

  2. Aha, you've caught me. On the surface this looks like a post about health systems, *but* if you take the last letter of every word and rearrange them you can spell out "BRING BACK SLAVERY".

But that was supposed to be a secret and now you've ruined it :P

Now a lesson, readers. If anyone badmouths government health systems again, just take a look at how you can rearrange the last letters of every word to spell out their true racist intentions. Then send the evidence to flag@whitehouse.gov and they'll deal with the hateful racist in question. (May take a little longer to perform 'extraordinary rendition' with non-US based suspects)

With *your* help, we can end racism together. For a safer community.

  3. I didn't say black slavery, I just said slavery. It must be *your* racist mind that made the connection!

(Points to Johann) That man there! Seize him! He's been rude to a Lordship! :P

  4. Actually on reflection, I guess the word 'slavery' may be burned more into the American and especially ex-Confederate consciousness more than most, so my bad if I caused any offence.

Though the point is that the real racists are the people who say everything is racist, when it has nothing to do with race.

Over here we got rid of slavery a couple of generations before you, and there's no propaganda associated with it (whereas I needn't state the obvious about the Civil War not really being about slavery, but that's what the propaganda says and history is written by the victors, etc)

So I guess we Eropeans don't have the same memory of slavery. In Britain there was little slavery, most of the trade was in the colonies.

(Though, a fun fact - the city of Liverpool wouldn't have ever existed were it not for the slave trade.)

Also, just incase people associate black slavery solely with white racism, it should be noted that African tribes enslaved one another frequently prior to the arrival of the imperialists.
