Danger: Pop Culture Within (Sunderland v Liverpool balloon goal scandal)

Yes I know, mass spectator sport was developed as a social engineering project to encourage people to waste their tribal energy on fruitless pursuits so they'd stop caring about things like freedom and justice and thus be easier to govern (read: lord over). So definitely it's not something to obsess over.

But sometimes it's so epic that it warrants a short mention, if only because it gave me a laugh and 'cause, frankly, the irony is delicious. It's the decisive moment from Sunderland's 1-0 win over Liverpool at the weekend.

See, a Liverpool fan threw a beach ball onto the pitch before the game started, and within minutes it played out its role: being in the right place at the right time to deflect Darren Bent's shot which resulted in the only goal of the game. Bwahahaha.

But Sunderland played better and deserved it. So meh.

There's even a video of Hitler reacting to this (is there anything there isn't a Hitler video on YT for?)

What impressed me when reading the comments to all these X-Factor demographic Pop Culture zombie videos, is there was the occasional comment saying 'say NO to the swine flu vaccine', even in this 'mainstream' (read: uninformed) corner of the internet. Impressive.
