100 Dead British Soldiers in 2009 in Afghanistan

A single death is a tragedy. Is a hundred just a statistic?

Here's what the frontmen in suits have to say about this...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8400529.stm

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the soldier killed on Monday - as they are with all the families of those who have given their lives in this war." - David Cameron

"This is yet another grim milestone in the record of sacrifice made by our brave troops in their mission in Afghanistan." - Nick Clegg

"All of them are heroes and, in paying our respects and making our tributes, I believe we must keep at the forefront of our minds why our people are in Afghanistan and the progress and achievements they have and continue to make alongside our international partners." - Bob Ainsworth, Defence Secretary

Now of course, they say what they say, but all have few issues with continuing and extending the war. So it's all words.

If you want to know how our rulers support the troops with their actions, why not take a look at the fine memorials designed as tributes to our fallen soldiers.

Wait, why do loads of war memorials feature phallic symbolism? Isn't that an insult?

Figure that one out on your own.

Some of the troops are wise to the trick (only too late)

  1. These wars are arbitrary and have gone on for way too long. The worst part is that this time we are the NAZIs! The human toll caused by these thugs is quite depressing. Aside from the direct deaths of our troops and the civilians and fighters they have killed think of the divorces, the substance abuse. One look at a picture like this: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/222/488611718_487efd2d1f.jpg is enough to know that it isin't worth one more stubbed toe.
The future is going to look alot more like 1984 or children of men then we want to think.
