Britain is studying plans to take billions of dollars of Libyan oil revenues away from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's regime and place them under the control of the United Nations.
William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, has told MPs that he is considering the case for international action to divert oil revenues into an escrow account that would be administered by the UN on behalf of the Libyan people.
The plan, similar to the oil-for-food system imposed on Saddam Hussein's Iraq after the first Gulf War, would require the UN Security Council to invoke its powers under Chapter VII of the UN charter.
Mr Hague said he was looking at the plan as part of efforts to "reduce the financial flows to the Gaddafi regime" amid fears that state oil revenues are helping to fund violence against opposition groups and civilian protesters.

The 'oil for food system' along with the sanctions, was what killed a million Iraqis (due to artificial, UN imposed poverty) between the first and second gulf wars. I guess Hague agrees with Allbright, that 'the price was worth it', 'the price' being half a million children.

My idea of foreign aid is to just fly cargo planes full of AK47s in crates, and drop them into the lap of the poor. As many as possible. (Political power comes out of the barrel of a gun - either the state has all the guns, like here in servile Britain, or there is some kind of balance of power between the state and the citizenry. If guns are so dangerous, which they are, then the only thing more dangerous is government having a monopoly on them.)

You wouldn't need anything else; no food programmes, no debt slavery via national loans, damn sure no HIV laced vaccines, no 'military intervention', nothing. But that would ruin the UN's little cottage industry of poverty pimping/depopulation, and the patronising 'liberal' world where those ickle poor people in the third world are too weak and have too many flies in their eyes to be free and independent, and need instead special help from them (I think their long term solution to 3w poverty is to have the entire 3w migrate to Europe...lmao)
